The Mystery About Babylon Intro

The Mystery About Babylon! Series

Introduction To “Babylon The Great!”

revised 03-30-2013

In this Series we will explore many of the prophecies that are throughout the Bible about Babylon The Great. Babylon the Great truly in scripture is clear when you use all the prophecies, we will easily prove who Babylon is today, and who and what Babylon is not. There is many intelligent and educated people who get lost in book of Revelation. You must tie the prophecies of book of Revelation to the prophecies and the scriptures throughout the Word Of God.

Almost all the events in Revelations, were also prophecies that John was already familiar with written in the Old Testament by the prophets. And that the Revelations John had visioned, were the visions the Angel who was sent by God the Father, expounded on the revelation that the early prophets had written. Here is a great danger in teaching; if teachers only use the scriptures in Revelations, he will not get the entire picture, you must start with the original prophecy written by the early prophets depending on what event what event in the book of Revelations is in reference. I will prove this over and over in this series, scripture always defines scripture. By connecting relevant scripture together this you can reduce personal interpretation.

So who is and where is Babylon The Great? Is it Rome? Is it Israel? Is it Iraq? Or is it America?

I have heard many cities, countries and many theories taught by different teachers on who and what “end time Babylon The Great” is. Here is the problem, they all cannot be right. Then there will always be a teacher who will teach that Babylon the Great is only symbolic which does nothing but down-play the Truth that God gave us in Word. So our first agenda will be to briefly cover some basic study principles and study ethics that are in scripture, to learn scripture to learn revelation that you can be sure are Truth. Principles that anyone can stand on and rest assured you teach prophecy correctly and accurately.

How To Truly Get Holy Ghost Revelation And Knowledge In Prophecy

The Holy Ghost cannot access what is not in you, meaning; First you must read scripture to put the Word in you, if you have not read it, the Holy Spirit cannot access it. Second, if you have read it, then you can start to tie scripture together and the Holy Ghost will define the scripture by bringing other scripture to your remembrance. Then you must meditate on it the scripture by asking God in prayer to give you revelation about it and your meditation state on an area or subject. This will usually happen when you read and then meditate on it, then later after you lay it down the the Holy Ghost will give you revelation about it. This scripture below is what John quoted that Jesus saying how to witness and study;

John 14:26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. KJV

But Also Beware, Not All Revelation Comes From God

Know that any Revelation that does line up with the Word of God, is not always Revelation of the from the Holy Ghost. Young or immature Christians are often attacked by the Satan by telling them that their dreams or thoughts are from God when they are not, if it does not line up exactly with the Word, disregard it. How to tell if it is from the Holy Spirit; It must line up with the Word of God in either in the Old or New Testament, Jesus is The Word Old and New Testament writings.

John 1:14
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. KJV

The Holy Ghost is not going to give you new revelation that is outside of the Word of God and that any revelation that cannot be confirmed in the Word of God. When teaching anything well, you as a teacher will have to labor hard in the Word knowing the Word or Scripture, there is no shortcuts especially when teaching prophecy. Scripture is always the complete foundation for teaching anything about God and His Agenda, always read it slowly and read it very closely and exactly to what scripture says and reads. Always read the complete chapter the scripture is in first. Do not explain away any scripture that you don’t have the understanding of, revelation can take years to come. And if the scripture does not line up with your beliefs, better check your beliefs first. You cannot be a great leader, teacher or Pastor until you accomplish yourself as a great student in all of Word Of God.

I am  going to pose a Question to prove something; Was Jesus Prophesied To Come In the Old Testament?

People and many churches here in the US have this assumption and believe that God The Father changed His mind agenda that God had in the Old Testament to the New Testament. He most certainly did not and I promise nothing changed at all. God was confirming his agenda with the writers of the New Testament. The biggest problem in America is teachers who do not understand how to rightly divide the Word of God. Teachers believe that rightly dividing the Word is who has a better sounding interpretation of the Word but rightly dividing is really seeing “who” it is written to. Was it written to a man or a women, or to a saved person or a lost person, or to a Jew or or a Gentile. I will give you some Holy Ghost revelation right here. All of the Word of God is written for you, but it is “not” all written to you.

Old Testament Prophecies and New Testament Prophecies

What we call the New Testament, was an addition to the Old Testament prophecies. And clearly there was more prophecy God the Father gave us after Jesus came. And there was prophecy in the Old Testament that was fulfilled exactly the way God the Father had the prophets write in the Old Testament, when He sent us Jesus our Savior. The Word of God which we proved up above is Jesus, who was The Son of God who came and dwelt among men in the flesh and for God to change His mind or agenda would have made Jesus who was the Word, wrong. I promise people, Jesus was never wrong… Amen

Now let me show you what I mean  when we say to tie new and old testament scriptures to get the clearer picture of prophecy. To look at what God did in the past, to see what he will do in the future.

In another lesson I show 11 of many prophecies and the fulfillment of those about the coming of the Messiah. Here is one to prove prophecy exactly true.

4. He will be betrayed by a friend

The prophecy in the Old Testament

Ps 41:9
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. KJV

The Prophecy after if was fulfilled

Matt 26:47-50
47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. KJV

You can sometime read all Eleven Prophecies Of The Messiah

So by Jesus coming and fulfilling the prophecies about the Messiah coming the first time, was the absolute proof and the fulfillment of Prophecy in the Old Testament. That the Word is not symbolic unless it is stated to be so. There was plenty of prophecy fulfilled exactly as it was written to prove the Word of God is true and there is still a lot of unfulfilled prophecy in the Old Testament to be fulfilled. Understand that God did not make a mistake or change His Mind about anything in the Old Testament.

The Integrity Of God

God doesn’t lie

Num 23:19

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? KJV

God didn’t change his mind

Mal 3:6
6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. KJV

By misunderstanding this subject can and will cause to unintentionally play down the events are coming in the Word Of God. I have heard many Good Pastors teach terrible messages on Babylon.

Beware Of Pride in Learning and Teaching

Pride plays a huge roll especially it seems in many prophecy teachers. And pride can get in the way every single time especially concerning this subject on Babylon. Now what I mean by this is; that Satan absolutely does not want Babylon revealed. And Satan does not want anything that will cause urgency in people in the Word of God. Like the Urgency that  John the Baptist was a great prophecy teacher, teaching about  the prophecy on the coming of Jesus.

But we as teachers are all called individually and we are called to areas. Prophecy and Freedom are gifts given to me, that were influenced as a young teacher by a great teacher named Rev. Mike Sawyer. But what makes Rev Mike a prophecy teacher is that he knows all the Word Of God. He and knows and studies very hard to this day and many other difficult subjects. Knowing the Word of God is exactly what makes you a great teacher.

There is a responsibility and a purpose to understanding this subject on Babylon. By understanding these creates urgency in the Gospel. Why is urgency important?

Would urgency have an impact on what you did for God? Would urgency impact how you dealt with your family and who you witness too about God? Of course, I believe it would.

Listen close, maybe God is speaking to you. But instead Him speaking of a thundering voice, maybe He is speaking in a still small voice instead, like the scripture says and with scripture about Babylon.

What does God Sound Like?

1 Kings 19:12
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. KJV

You will not get this message by just to skimming through, you need to look at the scriptures in your Bible, understand the story in the chapter, and look deep into what God has revealing in scripture….This will take a study ethic.

A great Misconceptions about what we call “Babylon The Great”

One of the most common misconceptions about Babylon The Great is this, that it  should not be called  “Mystery Babylon.” I will prove this, read this scripture.

Rev 17:5

Now notice after the word “Mystery” there is a comma. Mystery, Babylon The Great meaning; this is a Mystery about “Babylon The Great,” this has been always grammatically misunderstood, being misinterpreted as Mystery Babylon. By doing this when teaching, you are misleading people to believe that we are not supposed to know who she is, this is not the case. This teaching that Babylon is only symbolic or will remain a mystery is a complete deception of Satan. Satan is leading many to teach that this is a riddle that cannot be figured out, this is not true. The word “Mystery” is used by Paul several times, and the two places that it causes major controversy is Babylon and the Rapture. Do not fall into that trap!

It is a Mystery about Babylon

An unveiling or revelation of the Mystery about Babylon has come to many in these last days.

Some other time line terms referred to in the Bible to keep a mental note are;

the latter days, the day of the Lord, time of His wrath, time of troubles, His indignation and birth pangs (Either meaning the tribulation period or the entire 1000 year millennium).

There are some other names that show they were NOT talking about the first Babylon which was a city, but Babylon The Great, the hammer of the earth meaning the “Police.” Babylon like the first will be the greatest military and economic power at the time of its destruction. It simply is not a religion, or the false prophet. Some Christians believe it is the Radical Islāmic movement, the word specifically says it is a land, a place and/or country. None of these descriptions fit Iraq which is where the first Babylon was.

Note: Many of the scriptures in the prophecy’s do have a double meaning, but do not let this confuse you.

Know That History always repeats itself, lets look in Ecclesiastes

Eccl 1:9-10
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. KJV

We can look at what God did throughout history, to see what He will do!

Maybe God is creating and giving you urgency, maybe it is time to get yourself and your family ready to go with the Lord.

  1. Tami says:

Babylon the Great may not be Iraq, but what about Rome? Continue reading verses 9-11 and you will find that John is referring to Rome; the city famous for the seven hills. Babylon was the name of both an evil city and an immoral empire, a world center for idol worship. Babylon ransacked Jerusalem and carried the people of Judah into captivity. Babylon was the Jew’s worst enemy, the Roman Empire was the worst enemy of the early Christians.

  2. Dominick says:

Well Tami, great response, but does it fit all the descriptions in Jer. 50 & 51 and Rev. Is her mother country ashamed of her, Is she, rome the Hammer of the Earth meaning Police, is she the the strongest economic power in the world at the time of her destruction? Well and to the biggest problem, she will destroyed in on in one hour, never to be inhabited again. Rome plays a key roll during the Tribulation….Babylon, will destroyed at the start of the tribulation.

  3. CmoGrued says:

This is fascinating… I do think you are into something here! Have not finished and this may be premature, but have you considered this about anti…

seven kings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while.

“The beast which was and is not, is himself also an EIGHTH and is ONE of the SEVEN, and he goes to destruction.

USA is inhabited by who? Where are our major “roots” originally? Mine roots are Ireland.

  4. Dominick says:

Hey Ive been out of town. Your 2nd Question: My quote was like Sodom and Gomorrah, never to be inhabited again. I did not quite understand the first question.

  5. Dominick says:

    To GmoGrued
    The second Question……

    Rev 17:10
10And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

this is the Kings coming to the tribulation period.

    1.Egyptian 2. Assyrian 3. Babylonian 4. Medea Persian 5. Greek 6. Rome

    7. Revived Roman Empire is where we are now established in Jan 1, 1993, and the eighth is yet to come. that will be the tribulation Period

The tribulation period (indignation = Tribulation period)

    Dan 11:35-38
35And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

36And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

    The Anti Christ

37Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

He will be a Jew but he will come out of the Roman Empire…..(Europe) God of His Fathers (a Jew)

38But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

Here Zechariah says he will be a Jew

    Zech 8:23
23Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

    Hope this was the Answer

This is not a reply to your assertions, just a suggestion. Please fix grammatical errors and typos. For example, your first two sentences: “In this series we will explore who and where Babylon the Great truly is. And Who It Is Not” This should read: “In this series, we will explore who and where, “Babylon The Great,” is, and who it is not!” I’m not going to go sentence by sentence, but you should edit the whole thing to make sure your text is correct. You lose serious readers when they encounter blatant errors.

  8. brnzartist says:

Okay, these remarks refer to this page. First, let’s talk about scripture. You quoted several verses, and gave your interpretations, then extrapolated your interpretation into your theory. You erred in your interpretations more times than not.

2 Peter 3:8 simply means that the Lord’s perspective of time is different from that of human beings. And it should be. He is God; we are not. He experiences ALL of time at once, where we only see it moment by moment.

Joel 2:23. When taken in the proper context of the surrounding verses: 18 – 32, it is plain that the Lord is talking about His answer to the prayer made in v. 17. He restores the people, their reputation and their land, and abides with them again, through the Holy Spirit (v 28 – 32). You are wrong to contend that it is not in reference to the Holy Spirit.

Hosea 5:15, 6:2-3. The Lion (God) tears up Israel, then restores her. Hosea was not writing about the Messiah directly, but about the people of Israel.

Rev. 17:5. ESV: And on her forehead was written an name of mystery: Babylon the great, mother of …” Getting hung up on the word mystery is not warranted.

Jeremiah 50:23. The hammer is referring to Babylon. Which was eventually “broken” by Persia. This is past tense. It is history; not predicting future events.

Please explain this: “Now Simple 5th Grade Math, Jesus came in beginning the fifth day, at year 4000 going into the 5th day. See that? It says after two-day he will revive us, from 4ooo AD to 6000 AD, we could call that 2000 years right? Or Two Days, Right? But the scripture says in the “third day”! That puts his (second coming) seven years into the millennium! Not that he comes and then the millennium starts.” Where do you get these number from?

    Looking forward to your reply,

  9. Admin says:

    Revised please re-read.
This is very relevant to where we are in the time line

You got Jeremiah right. Except that Jer. has a dual prophecy, I agree 100 % History always repeats itself…….Read Eccl 1:9-10

    Eccl 1:9-10
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. KJV

Hosea 6:2-3 is about the restoration of Israel as a state in 1948, being complete in June of 1967 when they took possession of Jerusalem. Also we can see this in the fulfillment of Ezekiel’s vision.
And about when he raises Israel back up in the tribulation. and verse three is about the first and second coming. His second coming will be at the end of the tribulation, not to be confused with the rapture of the church called the Honeymoon which will occur at the beginning of the trib. ……Two separate events happen sanctimoniously, the honeymoon and the trib happen during the same seven year period..

    Hos 6:2-3
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. KJV

Now AD did does not start until he was crucified. The following verses

We are going to break verse 2 two into two parts
Part one – After two days will he revive us:

verse 2 “after two days”..or 2000 years from the first coming (this where we are at now is now, we are at the end of 6000 years) God restores Israel as a nation sate ..

Part two of verse two- – in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Two separate events happen in verse two, the early English interpreters could not have have seen this…..they put in the punctuation.

Know this. The Jewish day always start in darkness and ends in light.

Now in the rest of the verse, In the third day (the Tribulation is the beginning of the 7 day or the the millennium.) this the hour of Israel, which is when the hour of the gentiles has come to an end. We Gentiles complete what we were supposed to do and are the “Church” along with a mall percentage of Messianic Jews that were not partially blinded.. This where the church will be raptured just at before the trib is to begin. Lets don’t go there yet. Lets stay on the two days and the third day.

All of Romans chapter 11 is about what we are talking about. But read this verse.

    Rom 11:25
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. KJV

Now he said AFTER two days, in the third day he shall raise them up.
Verse 3 The former and the latter rain is the first and second coming of the messiah, many mistake this as referring to the Holy Ghost, it is not not, it is the first and second coming. He rise Israel up again.

Now read what I wrote about day one and two and the Third day. Sorry if I did not make this clear enough.

Now back to Hosea 6: 2-3

(Day one is Full day 1000 years from the time Jesus had dies) is just before we are 5000 years in to existence. (Day two is 2nd day), Now we are at the end of 2000 years from when Jesus was crucified, 6000 years into the worlds existence.) Jesus said “after” “two days,” in the “third day” begins the 7000 year period…….Which will start with the tribulation…and that will be a thousand year period.

I am saying that Peter meant exactly what he said that a day was as a thousand years.

I know you came not want to see the connection in these verses, I know what they teach from the pulpit. That does not change what the Word says…In verse 49:39 It refers to Elam, which is Iran in Latter Days, so the following chapters is prophecy about Babylon the Great, the second Babylon, not the first. Sorry this is not past tense.

You say I am wrong, but at the same time trying to explain away what the scripture says…. You still have said nothing. Either the Word is all true or it is all false. Which is it Jim?….

That is the problem in America, we think was written to us only. This was written to Hebrews who had customs, such as a Jewish Wedding. Do you think the bible was referring to the American wedding? Come on Jim go a little deeper…

  10. brnzartist says:

Unless you can explain it better, this whole AD/7000 yr period is, to me, unfounded. Once again, I read your paragraph and it makes no sense. Please clarify the last paragraph you just wrote.

What are you getting at, though? That the United States is the Great Babylon that God will destroy? OK. So what? Scripture tells us that, when it looks like all is lost for Israel, she has no one to come to her aid; no ally. I have always assumed that we (the US) have ceased to exist. That does not mean that I accept your conclusion that the US is the Great Babylon. Your first response, from Tami, is close to correct. She should have said, Roman Catholic Church, not the city of Rome. Apply the RCC to your response to her to read Jeremiah 50 & 51. You can answer “yes” to all of those questions, except the hammer question; which, I pointed out previously, is incorrect – hammer, does not refer to “police of the world” as you contend. Actually, “hammer” has been interpreted (incorrectly) by many to refer to the old USSR, which, one could argue, has been broken.

I don’t understand why you claim that the US has been “stealing” from and impoverishing other countries. You are wrong. The US has been the greatest force for good and fairness in the history of the planet!

However, let us focus on the solution; and that is the salvation made possible through the blood of Jesus Christ.

  11. Admin says:

The Catholic Pope will be one of the false prophets….The Catholic Church is not Babylon the great..Just bear with me, you will see it….I commend your debate.

  12. brnzartist says:

Actually, I haven’t heard much of end-time prophecy preached from the pulpit. Most of what I know about it comes directly from the Bible and other books. In 1980 I read a book entitled the Late Great Planet Earth, by Hal Lindsey, I believe. That got me started and I have read quite a bit about it since. Nothing I have read so far leads me to a conclusion that, because God (not man) can see a thousands years as a day, and a day as a thousand years, then the days spoken of in other parts of scripture actually mean a thousand years. Many have tried it – you’re not the first – but it just doesn’t add up (excuse the pun). Scripture does not support such a conclusion.

I can accept that the rapture will take place prior to the tribulation, although, surely you’re aware that there are three major veins of thought on the subject – 1. pre-mellinialism, 2. post-mellinialism, and 3. a-millinialism.

I am aware that world events are currently reaching Biblical proportions. It is obvious that Islam is on the move again and that it is violent and evil. I have, from time to time, connected it to end-time prophecy and am becoming more and more convinced that one of the false prophets will spring from it. It also appears to me that the US (one of Israel’s only allies) could be severing its ties with Israel and/or the US could be failing as a nation due to many, many internal AND external forces. In either event, the US would not be there for Israel in her hour of great need. All of these things lead me to a growing expectation for the return of Christ. Because of this, my wife and I volunteer in our church’s evangelistic outreach. We believe that we should be trying to lead as many to Christ as He would have in this late hour.

  13. Admin says:

    Ok Jim…..I appreciate your honesty.
I think you see it, you just haven’t tied it to the Word. It is all there. About the rapture. There are many theories, pre trib, mis trib, pre wrath, post trib..This comes from not understanding what the feats represent, Jesus fulfilled the Spring Feast and Jesus will fulfill the fall feast. Now when you get through this. The is a very good study on the fall feast.
I do not want to go there yet. Lets stick to Babylon right now.

Jim I have been doing this a long time, I want to something and you to think about a little. I will show you something that will shed a lot of light on the Word.
In first Tim. rightly dividing the Word is NOT who has better interpretation, but rather “who” it was written to. Meaning was it written to a Jewish Believer, an Orthodox Jew, a Gentile Believer, a non believer, was it written to a women or was it written to a man. When you learn to look at who was written to, the Word does not contradict itself.

Jim, what is the purpose of reading the Word, if you do not believe what it says.?
Most people do not understand prophecy because they do understand who was written to and you must educate yourself of the customs of the people it was written to.

Lets move on to the next lesson. Babylon the Great Two
